When we got home from my race in Goblin Valley we picked our new puppy back up. The breeders (our friends) said that he was acting sick, not eating, lethargic. We took him home and he threw up some hair ties. Great.
He wouldn't eat. And wouldn't eat. And kept throwing up. After a day or so we were forced to take him in to the vet. $300 later we had an x-ray that showed foreign objects in his stomach and intestines.
They said we should pay for a cat scan that would cost over $800 and from that they would either say everything is fine or we would need exploratory surgery which would then be over a thousand dollars more!
We certainly didn't have that kind of money. We began force feeding him (on the advice of my vet brother-in-law) hopping it would force whatever out, without damaging his insides. We did this for days while I looked for options we could afford that would help him. The only option we had was to give him up to the humane society. So we waited and the kids prayed. It was emotional times over here.
After more than a week of worry, force feeding, and waiting eventually he pooped and seemed to start feeling better! Phew! We felt it was a miracle. I couldn't imagine having to explain losing him to the kids.
We then jumped into the holidays: Starting with the best one of all - Halloween.
Sticking with tradition we all dressed up the same together and somehow decided on Day of the Dead Skeletons.
The kids and I enjoyed class Halloween parties and then we all went out for a great night of Trick-or-Treating.
Fall preceded on and we enjoyed the crispness in the air, the changing leaves, and the beginning of holiday treats!
We cuddled in bed
and got ready for my sister and bro-in-law to join us for the Thanksgiving break!
We did what I love best about Thanksgiving and spent a full day baking pies together!
And enjoyed a fabulous Thanksgiving feast the next day!
But as great as the food and festivities were, the best part was just spending time with family making memories - oh and seeing their adorable dog and our adorable dog play crazy in the backyard!
We headed into downtown for a DIY family photo shoot and as luck would have it look who we ran into!
We were all dressed up and coordinating anyway!
Here's the best we could get as far as family shots, but I'm glad to have something!
So grateful for this beautiful little family of mine!
