Besides the great treat of getting to spend so much time with this crazy gal...
... we also got to spend more time with her friend Rex; Who's mom, coincidentally happens be one of my great friends too!
Isn't it nice when it works out like that!? :)
We discovered new treat places
And also enjoyed many, many homemade treats
p.s. the bottom left photo is a green velvet and cheesecake layered cake. It sold at our ward auction for like $55 or something like that! I wish I could have tried some! I guess I'll just have to make it again!
The greatest treat of the month though, came towards the middle when this guy...
...officially got a job!!
The girls freaked when they found out. Ok. We all freaked!
The first thing they said was "Now we can get a dog!"
Well, let's work our way into that maybe?
Obviously after a year, almost to the day, of looking for a job in Colorado this news was long awaited. Especially in light of all that had fallen into our lives and had complicated our situation even more; We felt this was a direct answer to our and our family and friend's fasting and praying. God truly helped save us just in the knick of time.
He started the week of spring break. So the girls and I (and our awesome friends) enjoyed spring break without him.
One of the funnest things was going to Garden of the Gods and seeing a herd of Big Horn Sheep up-close and personal! Lucky for Sage that is the animal she was researching for school!
Pretty cool stuff!
We were happy when Grandmere came into town and had a ton of fun with her!
I think the highlight was going to the Denver Zoo, where she fell in love with the aquarium and reptile exhibit!
Grandmere got to stay to watch me struggle through making this...
Famous last words. This was supposed to be a "simple" cake to make again. The fin about did me in. I did manage to make one out of gum-paste. But it barely lasted before cracking and tearing. Here I thought gum paste would be stiff enough. Pastiage it will have to be next time! Anyone know where I can get pastiage???
Cadence wanted a mermaid party but I didn't think the boys at the party would be too keen on that so I erred with an under-the-sea theme and a mermaid cake. I think it was enough to satisfy her!
We had a really fun party playing games with some of her friends from school. We did activities like go on a scavenger hunt for sea creatures, then made habitats for those creatures. We played pin the leg on the octopus, decorated pails, and painted seashells. We went "fishing" for treats, and played Here Fishy Fishy - which by far was their favorite!
It's always a draining day taking care and entertaining that many kids, but Cadence was happy so I was happy.
It was so cute to see her immediately sharing one of her gifts with her older sister too.
