The beginning of April was full of fun times and moments of enjoying what makes Colorado wonderful.
One weekend I planned a long run out towards Roxborough State Park. The fam picked me up a few miles from the entrance and we enjoyed the rest of the morning hiking the beautiful landscape in the magnificent Colorado sunshiny weather.
We've got some serious training to get done with these children, Sage in particular. We've been away from the mountains too long. She goes out hard and excited all at once and then quickly putters out. By like half a mile she is complaining that her "legs hurt," she "tired," she "can't go on," she "hates hiking;" None of which flies with me! We had to resort to bribery and some down right threats to get her to even finish the measly 1.5 mile loop, which keep in mind, was not much of a mountain at all!
Cadence on the other hand was a pack horse! She could have probably gone all day. Just trudging along, carrying the biggest backpack of the kids, with the most in it. She just was such a trooper. I absolutely love her athleticism and determination.
Nouvelle; well, all she wanted was to eat cookies.
All in all, we had a great time, and I don't think Sage was too traumatized 'cause within a few days she was back to saying she wanted to go to the mountains.
We are so happy to back in Colorado, with the cool, dry, fresh, crisp mountain air so close by, and the spectacular beauty of the west!
Man we love Colorado!
