I must admit that I was overcome with dread when Cadence stated that for her cake this birthday she wanted a Rapunzel cake.
Well, seeing as this was the odd year birthday, (we only do big friend's parties on even years) I thought maybe I could find an idea for a mellowed down Rapunzel cake.
I mean. I should try and grant this simple request, shouldn't I? Or maybe the guilt of tearing Cadence away from the comforts and friends that she finally had found in Boston was eating at me - motivating me to do this again for her!
Here she was in a new place with no new real friends to mention. The least I could do was give her another Rapunzel cake.
This is what I compromised on.
Needless to say Cadence's infatuation with Rapunzel has spanned the last year.
And she got a Rapunzled-Out birthday for sure. Most gifts ended up being all things Rapunzel. She was in heaven.
To make the day even better, Grandmere was still in town. We were going to go hiking in the mountains but Cadence chose to go BACK to the zoo for a second day in a row.
So off to the zoo it was.
She mostly wanted to ride the carousel and the train. These were the highlights for her for sure.
We had dinner out at a family favorite
and then came home and devoured this years Rapunzel cake!
I really hope she can find a new obsession before next year. I just don't know if I have another Rapunzel cake in me! Maybe I should start "encouraging" an obsession with painting, or clouds, or something else I can make into a cake for her 6th birthday! ;)
This years birthday was more than plessant. It was perfect. The actvities, the company, the weather, the "speed" of the day, the gifts, the food...everything. Just perfect.
Cadence is our sweet little girl still, with a fire and determination brimming in her belly. She's naturally graceful and dainty. But also has the strength and endurance of an ox. She is careful and precise, almost a perfectionist. She is sensitive and loving. Nurturing, independent, and just the perfect ballance to her sisters.
Our family and our lives are blessed to have her as a part of them.
We love you Cadence. You are going to be t the best 5 year old ever, I just know it!
